AC Installation in Greenacres, FL

AC installation in Greenacres, FL is the biggest purchase most homeowners here make for a part of the house they never look at. Next Level Air Conditioning installs home and commercial systems across Palm Beach County from our office in Greenacres. We size the equipment for the house, pull the permit, install to code, and take the old system with us.

What's included

Removing the old equipment, setting the new air handler and condenser, connecting and evacuating the line set, verifying the charge, checking airflow across the coil, confirming the drain runs correctly, and setting up the thermostat. We pull the permit, handle the inspection, and haul the old system away.

Work covered on this page: install AC, AC replacement, energy-efficient AC upgrades, and heating system installation including heat pump installation.

How we install, and why it matters later

Most of a good installation is invisible once the panels go back on. These are the steps that decide whether your system lasts, and they are the ones most often skipped.

We flow nitrogen while brazing the copper. Brazing without it forms black soot inside the lines, and that soot travels to the compressor. This is basic practice that much of the industry has drifted away from because it takes an extra few minutes. We also use heat-blocking putty to protect the TXV and sensors while brazing.

We level the slab and confirm the equipment sits level. A compressor depends on its oil sitting where it should. A condenser on an out-of-level pad is a shortened compressor life that nobody connects back to installation day.

Hurricane pads are solid pre-made concrete, and the condenser is anchored to them. The details Florida code adds are below.

Duct transitions are fabricated on site and run all the way down to the throat of the equipment. A big box dropped onto the throat collects debris, and in an older closet with thin walls, leaking air and debris are what grow mold.

We seal duct board tape-to-tape rather than painting mastic everywhere, so the next technician is not cutting through hardened mastic to reach anything.

We also sleeve the low-voltage wiring, run the drain line neatly even where code does not require it, seal wall penetrations before inspection, and cover your floors and close off the work area even when other trades are on site. You paid for those floors.

Signs it is time to replace

  • The compressor has failed
  • The system still runs on R-22, which is no longer produced
  • Repairs are stacking up within the same cooling season
  • It runs constantly and still cannot hold the thermostat setting
  • Electric bills climbing year over year with no change in how you use the house
  • Rooms that never get comfortable no matter what the thermostat says

Sizing, and why bigger is not better in Florida

A system that is too large cools the air quickly, satisfies the thermostat, and shuts off before it has run long enough to pull the humidity out. The house ends up cold and clammy, which is the complaint we hear most often about somebody else's installation.

Sizing accounts for square footage, ceiling height, insulation, window area and orientation, and the humidity load that makes South Florida different from almost anywhere else in the country. It is calculated, and it should not simply match the old unit, because the old unit may have been wrong from the day it went in.

What affects AC installation cost in Palm Beach County

What moves the number: system size, the efficiency level you choose, whether the existing ductwork can be reused, whether the electrical needs modification, how accessible the air handler location is, and whether you are adding indoor air quality equipment at the same time.

Financing is available on new installations, replacements, and major upgrades.

Repair or replace

Under about ten years old with one failed part, repair is usually the better value. When the compressor goes, the system is on R-22, or repairs keep repeating, replacement makes more sense. We compare the two honestly on our AC replacement page.

How long it takes

A straightforward residential changeout is typically one day. Longer if the ductwork needs modification, the air handler is relocating, the electrical needs work, or equipment has to be craned onto a roof for a commercial job. Permit and inspection timing depends on the municipality.

On remodels and new construction we work to your schedule: ductwork, copper line set and PVC drain at rough-in, grilles once the painting is done, then back with the equipment for final set, so your project keeps moving instead of waiting on us.

Equipment and brands

We install the brand your plans or your budget call for, and we install every brand the same way.

We install and service Trane, Carrier, Mitsubishi Electric, Rheem and American Standard, and we repair every major brand regardless of who installed it. We do not claim to be an exclusive dealer for any of them.

We quote across efficiency levels rather than pushing one tier. Higher SEER equipment costs more up front and returns it monthly, and whether that math works depends on how long you plan to stay in the house. Heat pump installation is available for homes that want heating and cooling from one system.

What Florida code and Florida weather add to an install

Condensers here sit on solid pre-made concrete hurricane pads with the wind-rating sticker left visible, as Florida code requires, anchored with tie-down clips and masonry anchors. We follow the three-foot electrical clearance rule regardless of which inspector is coming, because doing it right once beats doing it twice.

The humidity load is also why sizing is calculated here rather than copied off the old unit. In a climate where the system runs most of the year, an install shortcut does not stay hidden for long. It shows up as a compressor that dies early, or as a house that never quite feels dry.

Frequently asked questions

What does a new AC system cost in Palm Beach County?

It depends on system size, the efficiency level you choose, and whether your existing ductwork and electrical can be reused. We quote across efficiency levels rather than pushing one tier, and estimates on new equipment are free.

Does the brand of AC matter?

Less than most people expect. Every brand has pros and cons, and installation quality determines longevity more than the label does. Most complaints about a "bad brand" trace back to a bad install. We install the brand your plans or your budget call for, and we install it properly.

How do I know what size AC my house needs?

It is calculated, not matched to the old unit. Sizing accounts for square footage, ceiling height, insulation, window area and orientation, and the humidity load. You can get an instant estimate with our AC size calculator, and we confirm it on site with a free Manual J load calculation before any install.

Why does a bigger AC make my house feel clammy?

Because it never runs long enough. Removing humidity takes run time. An oversized system satisfies the thermostat quickly and shuts off, so the air gets cold while the moisture stays in the house. Correct sizing is what fixes that, not more capacity.

Do you handle the permit and the inspection?

Yes, both are part of the installation. Inspection timing depends on the municipality.

Do you take the old system away?

Yes. Removal and haul-away of the old equipment is included.

Is a higher SEER system worth it in Florida?

It depends how long you are staying in the house. Higher efficiency costs more up front and returns it in monthly operating cost, and in a climate where the system runs most of the year that return comes faster than it would further north. We show you the comparison instead of choosing for you.

Can I finance a new system?

Yes, on new installations, replacements, and major upgrades.
