“Top notch from start to finish. Robert and his crew were very professional and got the job done right. We are very happy with our new ac!”
How a heat pump works, briefly
In summer it does exactly what any air conditioner does, moving heat from inside the house to outside. In winter a reversing valve flips the refrigerant flow and it moves heat the other way, pulling warmth out of the outside air and bringing it in. Even air that feels cold to you has heat in it, which is why this works.
Because it moves heat rather than creating it, a heat pump delivers more heating per dollar of electricity than electric strip heat does. For our climate that is the whole argument.
Sizing matters more than capacity
The same rule applies as with any air conditioner here: an oversized system shuts off before it pulls the humidity out, leaving the house cold and clammy while it short cycles to an early failure.
We size for the house. If the unit that was there before was wrong, we are not going to repeat it just because it fits the pad.
The wiring detail that gets missed
A heat pump needs a reversing valve control wire, normally on the O terminal, and it has to be right at the thermostat as well as at the equipment. Get it wrong and the system cools when it should heat, or works until the first cold night and then does not.
It causes a lot of callbacks, and it is why a thermostat swap on a heat pump is its own job. More on our thermostats page.
What a heat pump installation includes
The same standards as every AC installation we do: nitrogen while brazing, a leveled slab, an anchored hurricane pad with the wind-rating sticker visible, three feet of electrical clearance, duct transitions fabricated on site, tape-to-tape sealing and a neat drain line. Permit and inspection handled.
Equipment and brands
We install and service Trane, Carrier, Mitsubishi Electric, Rheem and American Standard, and we repair every major brand, whoever installed it. We are not an exclusive dealer for any of them.

Why they suit South Florida
We get a handful of genuinely cold nights a year and a long, punishing cooling season. That profile is close to ideal for a heat pump:
- The cooling side is what you were buying anyway, at the same efficiency as any comparable system
- The heating side handles our winter easily, because a heat pump loses efficiency only when it gets genuinely cold, which here it rarely does
- One system, one outdoor unit, one piece of equipment to maintain rather than two
- No gas line, no combustion, no flue
The honest version: if you live in Palm Beach County, you are choosing a heat pump for the cooling and getting the heating as a bonus. Anyone selling it the other way around is selling backwards.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a heat pump and a regular air conditioner?
A heat pump is an air conditioner with a reversing valve, so it can move heat in either direction. In summer the two are the same machine doing the same job. In winter the heat pump can run backwards and heat the house.
Does a heat pump work in Florida winters?
Very well. Heat pumps lose efficiency when it gets genuinely cold, and here it rarely does. Our winter is close to the easiest conditions a heat pump ever sees.
Is a heat pump more expensive to run than strip heat?
No, considerably less. A heat pump moves existing heat rather than generating it, so it delivers more warmth per dollar of electricity. Electric strip heat is the expensive way to heat a house.
Do I need a special thermostat for a heat pump?
Usually yes. A heat pump needs the reversing valve control, normally on the O terminal, which a basic cooling-only thermostat does not provide. This is a common source of problems after a do-it-yourself thermostat swap.
Can a heat pump replace my existing AC without changing the ductwork?
Often yes, though it depends on whether the existing duct is sized and sealed correctly. If the house was never comfortable with the old system, the duct is worth looking at before assuming new equipment fixes it.
Is a bigger heat pump better?
No. Oversizing causes the same problem here as it does with any air conditioner: the system cools fast, shuts off early, never removes the humidity, and short cycles itself into early failure. Correct sizing beats maximum sizing.
How long does the installation take?
A straightforward residential installation is usually a single day. Ductwork, transitions, or electrical work can extend it.
Can I finance a heat pump?
Yes, financing is available on new systems.
Do you serve my city?
We are based in Greenacres and serve all of Palm Beach County plus Broward County.
