Emergency AC repair in Greenacres is for the August afternoon when the air conditioning quits: it is not an inconvenience, it is a house that gets unlivable in a few hours. Next Level Air Conditioning handles urgent no-cool calls across Palm Beach County from our office in Greenacres.
★★★★★
“Our AC broke on a Friday night. They came right away to see what happened. Diagnosed the issue, came back the next day to do a full unit install.”
What to do before we get there
- Turn the system off at the thermostat if it is frozen, leaking, or smells hot. Running a failing system through the wait usually turns a repair into a replacement.
- If the coil or the refrigerant line is iced, switch the thermostat to Off and the fan to On. The fan alone will thaw the ice faster and without the heat gun somebody on the internet will suggest. Do not chip at ice on a coil.
- Check the breaker once. If it trips a second time, leave it off and tell us. A breaker that will not hold is telling you something, and resetting it repeatedly is how a fault becomes a fire.
- Check the filter. A filter that is completely loaded can freeze a coil on its own, and it is the one cause a homeowner can fix in two minutes.
- Look at the drain pan and the float switch. Many systems shut themselves off on purpose when the pan fills. That is the safety working, not the system failing.
- Close blinds on the sun side and keep interior doors open. It buys the house a few degrees.
What we do on an urgent call
We diagnose before we quote. That means finding the actual fault rather than swapping the part that usually fails and hoping, and it means telling you the price before the work starts rather than after. We stock the parts that fail most often, so a large share of urgent calls finish on the first visit instead of waiting on a supply house.
If the honest answer is that the system is not worth another repair, we will say that, show you why, and give you the replacement numbers rather than selling you one more fix on a system that has run out of road.
24 hour coverage, and what it costs after hours
We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Somebody picks up at 2 AM on a Sunday, and that is the whole point of calling an AC company rather than leaving a voicemail for Monday.
We do not publish an arrival window and we are not going to invent one. What we will tell you when you call is whether someone can come out and roughly when, based on what is actually in front of us that day.
Our regular hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to noon. A call outside those hours is emergency service and carries an after-hours rate. We tell you that rate before we dispatch, not when the invoice arrives, so the number is never a surprise.
What affects emergency AC repair cost
The same things that move any repair: which part failed, whether the refrigerant circuit has to be opened, and how accessible the equipment is. On top of that, a call outside regular hours carries an after-hours rate, quoted to you up front.
When it is actually an emergency
Not every fault needs a call tonight. These do:
- No cooling at all, with indoor temperature climbing
- Burning smell, hot electrical smell, or visible scorching at the unit
- Water actively running from the air handler into the ceiling or the floor
- A breaker that trips again immediately after being reset
- Grinding, screeching, or a loud bang followed by the system stopping
- Anyone in the house who is elderly, an infant, or medically vulnerable to heat
These usually can wait for a normal appointment: weak cooling that still cools, a thermostat that looks wrong but runs, one warm room in an otherwise comfortable house, a system that is noisy but working. Waiting on those often costs less, because a scheduled visit is a calmer visit.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer emergency AC repair?
Yes. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Outside Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to noon, the visit is emergency service at an after-hours rate, and we tell you that rate before we dispatch.
How fast can you get here?
It depends on the day and what else is running. We will tell you honestly when you call rather than quoting a number we cannot stand behind. Emergency and after-hours calls carry an after-hours rate, and you hear that before we dispatch.
My AC is frozen. What do I do right now?
Turn the thermostat to Off and set the fan to On. The fan will thaw the coil faster than leaving everything off, and far more safely than trying to melt or chip the ice. Once it has thawed, check the filter, because a loaded filter is one of the most common causes. If it freezes again after a filter change, the system needs a technician.
My breaker keeps tripping. Can I just keep resetting it?
No. Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call. A breaker that will not hold is doing its job, and repeatedly forcing it back on is how an electrical fault turns into something worse.
Water is coming through my ceiling under the air handler. Is that the AC?
Almost certainly, and it is usually a blocked drain line. Turn the system off so it stops producing condensate and call. Catching this early is the difference between a drain line cleaning and a ceiling repair.
Should I wait until morning?
If the house is still tolerable and nobody in it is vulnerable to heat, a scheduled visit is usually the better call. If there is a burning smell, active water, or a breaker that will not hold, do not wait.
Will you try to sell me a new system?
Not unless the repair does not make sense, and if we say that we will show you the reason. Most urgent calls are repairs.
Do you serve my city?
We are based in Greenacres and serve all of Palm Beach County plus Broward County.
