What's included
Every repair visit starts with a full diagnostic rather than a guess. We check the thermostat signal, the electrical side, the refrigerant charge, the coils, the blower, and the drain line before telling you what is wrong. That matters because the obvious symptom and the actual cause are often two different things. A system that is not cooling might need a capacitor, or it might have a refrigerant leak that will empty a fresh charge in a month.
Common parts stay on the truck, so most repairs finish on the first visit instead of turning into a second appointment and another day without cooling.
Work covered on this page: A/C system repair, emergency AC repair, refrigerant leak repair, AC drain line cleaning, HVAC system repair, and thermostat repair.
Signs you need AC repair
- The air coming out is warm, or barely cool
- The system runs constantly and never reaches the thermostat setting
- Water around the air handler, or a ceiling stain underneath it
- Ice on the refrigerant line or the indoor coil
- The breaker trips when the system starts
- Short cycling, where it turns on and off every few minutes
- A burning, musty, or sour smell when it runs
- Grinding, squealing, or a hard clunk on startup
- Humidity in the house stays high even though the air feels cold
The drain line one is worth calling early on. A clogged line backs water into the pan and then into the ceiling, and the water damage usually costs more than the repair would have.
What affects AC repair cost in Palm Beach County
What changes the price: which part failed, whether the refrigerant circuit has to be opened, whether your system uses R-22 or a current refrigerant, how accessible the equipment is, and whether the fault has damaged anything downstream. We give you the number before the work starts, not after.
Repair or replace
Repair usually wins when the system is under about ten years old and one part has failed. Replacement starts to make sense when the compressor fails, the system still runs on R-22, or repairs keep stacking up in the same season.
We will tell you straight which one you are looking at, and if a repair buys you several more years, we will say so. If you are on the replacement side of the line, see AC replacement.
How long it takes
Most diagnostics take under an hour. A common repair, such as a capacitor, contactor, or a drain line clear, is usually finished in the same visit. Refrigerant leak work takes longer because the leak has to be located and repaired properly before recharging, and a system that is simply topped up without finding the leak will fail again.
Equipment and brands
When a compressor fails early, the cause is often the install, not the brand. Brazing copper without nitrogen leaves soot inside the lines, and that soot ends up in the compressor. We flow nitrogen on every joint we braze, and when we open a system for repair we can usually tell how carefully it was put together.
We install and service Trane, Carrier, Mitsubishi Electric, Rheem and American Standard, and we repair every major brand, whoever installed it. We are not an exclusive dealer for any of them.
Why repairs here are not like repairs up north
A system in Palm Beach County does not get an off season. It runs nearly year round, so wear items reach the end of their life on a much shorter clock, and a marginal capacitor that would limp through a mild summer somewhere else gives out in August here.
Humidity also changes what a finished repair has to do. If a system cools the air but never runs long enough to pull moisture out, the house ends up cold and clammy, and no thermostat setting fixes that.

Frequently asked questions
What does AC repair cost in Palm Beach County?
What moves it is which part failed, whether the refrigerant circuit has to be opened, and whether your system runs R-22 or a current refrigerant. You get the price before the work starts, not after it is finished.
Why is my AC running but not cooling?
There are several common causes, and they are not distinguishable from the symptom alone. A failed capacitor, a low refrigerant charge from a leak, a dirty or frozen coil, a failing compressor, or a thermostat that is not calling correctly all produce the same complaint. That is why the visit starts with a diagnostic rather than a parts swap.
Should I repair my AC or replace it?
Repair usually wins if the system is under about ten years old and the fault is one component. Replacement usually wins if the compressor has failed, the system still uses R-22, or repairs are repeating within the same season. We will tell you which side of that line you are on.
Do you repair all brands?
Yes. We repair all major brands of residential and commercial equipment.
Can you fix a clogged AC drain line?
Yes, and it is worth calling early, before the pan overflows into the ceiling.
My AC is leaking water. Is that an emergency?
It needs attention quickly. Water at the air handler usually means a clogged drain line or a frozen coil that is now melting. Turn the system off to stop the water, and call. Leaving it running while it drains into the structure is how a small repair becomes a ceiling repair.
Do you offer emergency AC repair?
Yes. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Outside Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to noon, the visit is emergency service at an after-hours rate, and we tell you that rate before we dispatch.
Can I just add refrigerant instead of repairing the leak?
Adding refrigerant without finding the leak means paying for refrigerant twice, because a sealed system does not consume it. If the charge is low, it went somewhere. We locate and repair the leak first, then recharge to spec.
Why is refrigerant so expensive?
Part of it is the refrigerant itself. Part of it is the cost of keeping it on every truck, so your repair can finish on the first visit instead of waiting on a supply house.
My system has the new A2L refrigerant and the leak sensor tripped after my house was tented. Is that a real leak?
Possibly not. Fumigation and termite tenting chemicals can affect the refrigerant leak sensors used with the newer A2L refrigerants and trip a system that has no actual leak. It is worth mentioning when you call if your house was recently tented, because it changes what we check first.
Do you serve my city?
We are based in Greenacres and serve all of Palm Beach County plus Broward County. The full list is in the service areas section above.
